JOB SUMMARY
Participate in all activities of the Engineering department. These include Product/Process Development, cost estimation, and cost reduction/cost of poor-quality improvement projects. Position is also responsible for engineering support of manufacturing departments, suppliers, and customers. Participates in lean events, documents processes and operating procedures to standardize work, assists peers as they implement improvements, and monitors sustainment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (But not limited to the following)
· Manage projects, NPI and other product launches through utilization of the DIAMOND process.
· Product improvement efforts by managing product development process through various stages including prototype development and certification, material / labor costing, and production methodology.
· Create, maintain, and improve standard work procedures and effectively communicate / train to instructions.
· Interfaces with shop floor associates to discuss and resolve manufacturing issues.
· Responsible for the review process of customer purchase orders for new and legacy work
· Support continuous improvement activities; apply Lean, Six Sigma, and sound RCCA tools.
· Perform other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience; or similar discipline with 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; forging experience preferred.
· Proven ability to manage projects and multiple concurrent priorities
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Must possess solid analytical skills in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions
· Introductory experience with 3D CAD package, prefer CATIA V5
· Knowledge of drawing and dimensioning standards (ASME Y14.5-1994 and later)
· Experience with detailing and understanding tooling layouts and assemblies
